Light Bulbs
Just over 6 months in and we’re starting to see some really positive growth in the business and the people who enjoy visiting the pub.
The pub is starting to feel like a proper pub. People come and sit by the fire and drink coffee. People come for Sunday lunch and play board games. People come on Friday nights and drink and dance. After an unimaginable amount of work, we can now see we have a chance at being successful.
I’m also totally convinced that this is the right career path for me. I feel excited about what each day will bring, I go to bed completely knackered and I get up and do it all over again.
This trade is very male dominated. Really, it’s an old boys club and I enjoy going to meetings and social hangout with the breweries and bringing a bit of female energy to the whole thing. It’s a hard life, being invited to beer and wine tastings but someone has to do it!
Musically, Mediaeval Baebes have been rehearsing like mad for our up and coming USA tour, mostly at the pub. So, I’ll be leaving the pub for a couple of weeks in the hands of my husband. I’ve got mixed feeling about going away. I’m looking forward to the change of pace and singing in the States but I’m also a little sad to leave my pub at this busy time of year. But it’s important that I carry on with my music. Let’s face it, I need that in my life or I’ll go mad.
It s been troubled times for Pythia but our 3rd album will be out on the 8th of December and hopefully people will respond well to it. Making an album is like giving birth. You tend to forget the pain pretty quickly after it lands. We will see. I’m looking forward to new projects in 2015 with Stephen Yates and Celtic Legend.
Now I’m off to sort out the ever pressing problem of light bulbs!
